What is its purpose?

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are crucial times for preventing the transmission of HIV from mother to her child. This indicator therefore measures the proportion of women that are aware of the main ways of mother-to-child HIV transmission.

How to Collect and Analyse the Required Data

Collect the following data by conducting individual interviews with a representative sample of women aged 15 – 49:

Calculate the indicator’s value by dividing the number of respondents who know all three ways (answers 1-3) by the total number of interviewed respondents and multiplying the result by 100.

Disaggregate by

Disaggregate the data by the respondent’s age, education level, and wealth.
